Plants That Bring a Festive Feel

Why not bring some Christmas cheer to your garden or indoor space this holiday season with these seven festive plants. 

 

Christmas Bush

The New South Wales Christmas bush native to Australia blooms red sepal in summer just in time for the festive season. The native plant is available as cut flowers or colourful potted plants for an Australian themed Christmas. 

The bush can grow up to 3 to 6 metres, it is important to choose a place with adequate space that gets full sun or half shade. Alternatively, you could grow the NSW Christmas Bush Johanna’s Christmas which is a dwarf variety of the bush.     

 

Christmas Bells

Christmas bells have bell shaped yellow flowers or red flowers with yellow tips. They are native to Australia and grow in New South Wales and Queensland. The plant blooms late spring and during summer attracting birds, bees, and butterflies to your garden. 

Christmas bells can grow up to a metre tall and it requires a well-drained soil. It is important to choose a deep pot and will need to be repotted every couple of years.    

 

Christmas Orchid

Christmas Orchid flowers during summer. White flowers bloom clustered on top of a metre tall stem. The plant is mainly grown in pots and grows well in sheltered and shady areas. It is important to water the plant well until leaves start to yellow and reduce watering as it begins blooming.   

 

Poinsettia

Potted Poinsettia are widely popular during Christmas in the northern hemisphere. The Mexican native plant flowers during late autumn and winter just in time for Christmas. Dwarf Conifer

The Conifer is the traditional Christmas tree and potted dwarf conifer trees can be brought into the house for Christmas celebration. Living trees are fresher, more fragrant, environmentally friendly and economical. 

Petunias

The Petunias are a popular annual flower that are easy to grow and bloom prolifically. The plant can be grown in a pot and brought indoors as a celebration centrepiece. Potted flowering plants are an easy way of adding colours to your garden, indoors and balconies.
